Nagojje County, Nakifuma:

In a heartwarming act of service and compassion, Nagojje Church of Uganda Primary School, located in Nagojje Sub- County, Nakifuma County, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community upliftment through its termly outreach initiative dubbed “The Good Samaritan.”

Spearheaded by the school’s visionary head teacher, Ms. Nakabugo Margaret Ssali, the Good Samaritan program mobilizes learners, staff, and parents to reach out to the vulnerable members of the community including the elderly, persons with disabilities, and the needy.

This term’s outreach was marked by a major community cleaning exercise across Nagojje trading centre, followed by donations of essential food items to those most in need. Ms. Nakabugo emphasized that this initiative is now a tradition carried out at the beginning of each school term, symbolizing the school's gratitude to the community that continues to entrust it with the education of their children.

“This is our way of giving back to the community that supports our school with learners and trust. It's a shared responsibility between the school management, the pupils, and the parents,” she said.

The success of the event was made possible through the collective efforts of the school team led by Mr. Musoke Thomas, members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) headed by Mr. Mayengo Richard, and the support of local leaders including LC1 Chairperson Ms. Nanjuki and area councilor Hajat Mugambe.

Ms. Nakabugo extended her heartfelt thanks to all contributors, especially those who donated food items, and called upon well-wishers to continue supporting future initiatives through donations of foodstuffs, clothing, and financial contributions. The next outreach event is scheduled to take place in Third Term 2025, with a focus on expanding to more vulnerable families in villages such as Nagojje, Kawututu, and Nayangayanga.

“We welcome more hands to make the next event even more impactful,” she added.

LC1 Chairperson Ms. Nanjuki also lauded the school’s leadership for introducing such a meaningful program in the community.

“This initiative has greatly benefited our elderly and disabled residents. It’s truly an act of love and responsibility,” she remarked.

The Good Samaritan outreach is not just a charitable event—it’s a powerful lesson in empathy and social responsibility, instilling in the learners the values of kindness, gratitude, and community service. It is indeed a shining example of how educational institutions can become agents of positive change beyond the classroom.
